Q: I'm going to suggest the US will not solve its debt situation, will not resolve its spending problems and will as a result blend into the thirdish world level politically, second level structurally.
I know lots of older citizens will quarrel with me, but I wonder how younger people feel. Lets say you recently graduated from school, does it matter to you how the USA stands in the world?
Or, as long as you have a job does it matter?

  • A:I am 30 years old and although I didn't "just" graduate, I feel like I am probably part of the generation Bruce is speaking about. We absolutely feel that it matters how the US stands in the world. The biggest disappointment of my adult life has been to grow up and realize that my hero's, the people we elect to run this country and the major power brokers, are more concerned about self-interest and self-promotion than they are about the long term health of this country. They don't want the party to end. How is it that I learned the life lesson of "pay me now or pay me later", yet the noble few are continuously acting like immature teenagers that don't want to pay their car insurance because they need money to buy the latest Jay-Z album? Sure, go ahead, you're an adult, buy the album... but what are you going to do when you smash into that Mercedes? You're going to cry and wish you had insurance.

  • A:Of course having a job is the top priority. Without employment these "bigger issues" are at least somewhat irrelevant to me. Maslow's pyramid sums this up pretty well.

  • A:Pollster Scott Rasmussen's new book, "The People's Money", addresses this issue among other ones caused by the political class. He reinforces the statements with polling results of potential voters and of the political class. He looks back at problems in the past and makes a clear case for the American public as the problem solvers. People have always been ahead of the politicians in recognizing the need for change, and it is probably time for everyone to protest the cronyism and corruption that lie at the heart of our debt problems. (An example of corruption is LBJ's changing budget definitions to omit the debt factor behind insuring home mortgages. Other definitions have been crafted to prevent the true picture from being seen by the public including inflation factors and 'trust funds' for social programs.)

  • A:Confidence will encourage investments and as a result, unemployment rate will reduce. But confidence can be achive when the US can get its financial stability back. Strong economic power will obviously promote a strong position of the US in the world.

  • A:In fields like science national prestige/standing has an important effect on opportunities for personal achievement. Cuts the science budget to postdoctoral fellowship programs induced me to leave the US in 2006 to remain a physicist and still earn a decent salary.

  • A:Why blend UNLESS you want rule! POINT: Someone in the world is the master brain behind what is happening over the earth. It clearly is a movment to a world system which can and will be run by one person. That can not happen as long as the USA stand way above the rest of the nations. If you are a chirstian you call this brain ANTI CHRIST. Look again and to your surprise the world is moving toward exactly what the Bible is talking about.
